Response

The one thing that we are ever really in control of, is our response to a situation. Things may not always go in our favor, or according to our plan. Things may change abruptly, or they may refuse to budge no matter how hard we try to improve them. People may suddenly change on you, or disappear completely.

We don’t have a lot of control over what can happen outside of ourselves. But we always have control over how we respond.

We have the choice to move on, or get crushed in disappointment. We have the choice to get overwhelmed in stress, or to realize that we can only do what we can, and that’s enough. We have a choice to be devastated by a perceived loss of a relationship, or to focus on gratitude for the time we had and for the lessons we learned.

We get to choose our response to situations, and our response is the most important aspect.
