People would prefer you to be nice.
Being nice is staying quiet, being polite, and putting in the effort not to ruffle feathers. That’s all well and good, but it’s not always the best option.
Being nice is nice, but it’s not the same as being kind.
Sometimes being kind means speaking up against bad behavior. And that’s not always nice for everyone.
Sometimes being kind means telling the truth to someone you love who needs to hear it. And the truth may not always be nice.
And, sometimes being kind means putting up boundaries for the sake of both of you. Worrying about staying nice, might mean having poor boundaries so you don’t aggravate them. But poor boundaries only end up hurting everyone in the end.
Being nice is wonderful and nice, but being kind is a much more loving choice.
