Eliminate expectations, and you’ll be sure to lead a blissful life. Expectations do nothing but set you up for disappointment. At the very least they blur your vision to the beauty of what’s really going on around you, because you’re fixated on having your expectations met instead.
I read this quote that says: Expectations are premeditated resentments.
It sounds like having expectations is a pretty solid way to zap you out of the present, where happiness can be found, and straight into a disappointing future.
Why not do yourself a favor (and those in your life who would be the subject of your expectations), and relax a little. Cultivate an attitude of appreciation instead. Try not to lean too heavy into expectations. Or if you have to, don’t take them too seriously.
A happy life, is a life that is filled with appreciation and light on expectations.
