And expert has devoted a lot of time and energy to studying and learning a particular field. They should be respected for their expertise. But they are still human, and so not all-knowing. Give respect, and also grace to acknowledge they aren't perfect.

Respect
Respect should be freely given, but in reality it needs to be earned. The best way to do that is to show respect yourself. Be respectful and you'll earn respect in turn. It's not a guarantee, but it does help your chances greatly.
Respect
Respect is just like any other gift. You can't give it to others, if you don't have it yourself. And, you certainly won't be able to receive it from anyone, if you don't already have self-respect. Respect will take you far in this world. But first, start with right where you are.
Define Yourself
You don't have to be who you are according to someone else's definition. Define yourself. Live your life according to your terms, as long as it is moral, and doesn't affect anyone else's morality. It goes both ways. You don't want someone else to dictate how you live your life. You don't want someone else … Continue reading Define Yourself
Everyone
Everyone has dreams. Everyone has likes and dislikes. Everyone wants to be treated with dignity and respect. Everyone means everyone, even those people you want so badly to demonize because it makes it easier to discount them. But they all have dreams, likes and dislikes, and wish to be treated with the same dignity and … Continue reading Everyone
Respect
The thing about respect is that it's a whole lot easier to get if you give it first. And the main person you should give respect to is yourself. After all, how can you expect anyone to respect you if you don't even respect yourself?
Worthy
When making a choice, do you consider the consequences? When choosing what to eat, or watch, or even what kind of conversations you're willing to be a part of, do you consider if the choice is worthy of someone respectable? You are amazing. You should start treating yourself as worthy of the highest regard. That … Continue reading Worthy
Respect
The most effective way to gain someone's respect is to treat them with that very same level of respect. Everyone wants to feel valued and respected. Graciously extending your respect to others is a great way to earn your own from them. It's golden, just like the rule about treating others as you wish to … Continue reading Respect
Grace
Grace is more than just a short prayer to say before a meal, it can be a way of life. Grace is showing kindness, love, and respect as often as you can, even if it seems undeserved. Grace is all about giving more than receiving. It's an elegant and charming intention. It has a personal … Continue reading Grace
Empathy
There is not usually a "one size fits all" solution to complex societal problems, but there can always be empathy. We may each have our own unique perspective for understanding the world, but ultimately we are all still people. So, even though our perspectives may not be the same, we all still want to feel … Continue reading Empathy
Golden
The "Golden Rule" is golden, because it is an incredibly valuable guidance for living your best life. Its message is simple: treat others how you want to be treated. It's simple, but can be easily forgotten when life gets complicated. But the way to create a kinder world begins with you. So start treating people … Continue reading Golden

A peaceful life is the result of choosing to be peaceful as many times as you can make that choice. A joyful life is the result of choosing to be joyful as often as you possibly can. No, period.
I recently heard this wonderful bit of advice when dealing with setting boundaries: "No" is a complete response. For such a simple sentence, it's quite a complex idea. Most of us learn to be apologetic and always have a reason ready if we need to say no. We are taught not to be rude, and … Continue reading No, period.
Communication
It seems to me that in the debate over religion, those arguing against it, are relating it to an ideology, and yet those arguing in defense of it, are relating it to spirituality. So really, the debate itself might boil down to a simple failure to communicate. I mean, of course they can't see eye-to-eye … Continue reading Communication
Respect
The way I look at it, when faced with a choice on whether to show respect for others or to bluntly insist that you are right, respect should always be the way to go. Our society is built in such a way that we need each other's cooperation in order for it to keep running. … Continue reading Respect
Simple
Human relations can be so simple. They might not be easy, but they are certainly simple if we remember that we all just want to be respected and acknowledged. If we want to be treated with respect, then we might remember that everyone else wants to be treated with respect as well. So, it's simple. … Continue reading Simple

If you're looking for harmony with others, start believing that your interactions will be harmonious. If you're looking for respect from others, start believing that people do show respect. If you're looking for understanding from others, start believing that people are inherently understanding. As with everything we experience, our relationships with other people are first … Continue reading Start Believing
The Very Best
American author Wallace D. Wattles said, The very best thing you can do for the whole world is to make the most of yourself. Change begins with yourself. Progress begins with your own life. We want to live in a world of peace, equality, respect and love. It's created from each one of us beginning … Continue reading The Very Best
Healing
There is a beautiful Hawaiian prayer for healing, called the Ho’oponopono Prayer. It's simple, short and powerful. By repeating it's four phrases over and over, it helps to calm you, and clear anger, hurt and negativity. It's about forgiveness, but it calls on you to take responsibility yourself, as any emotions you feel ultimately come … Continue reading Healing
Learn to Listen
I love hospitality workers. They hold a special place in my heart. I pray for their specific plight during this pandemic, as most of the hospitality businesses are shut down and the jobs they are normally underpaid for are now simply gone. For years I myself worked in a restaurant, and while it was hard … Continue reading Learn to Listen
