Criticism

Criticism is damaging to the recipient and to the giver.

Its aim is to deflate the former, but it also corrodes the latter.

Spend too much time on either side of it, and criticism will destroy you.

It’s true that you can tack on the word “constructive” to the front of it, and that’s meant to make it a positive thing.

But, it’s still criticism.

It might be better to get away from that idea altogether, and choose to offer feedback instead.

Feedback is given in a much kinder spirit.

And it’s something that is so much more palatable to consider when receiving it.
