Generosity isn’t so much about what you give, but more about the spirit that you give it in.
You could shower tons of money at someone, but if you’re only buying yourself a favorable image, then that isn’t generous it’s a business transaction.
On the other hand, you could give away a tattered rag, but if it’s the literal shirt off of your back to help someone else get warm, then that is incredibly generous.
And it doesn’t have to be so extreme.
Giving a kind smile, or patiently listening to someone who needs to be heard is generous.
Showing off through gifts is not. That’s just gift-giving
Without the spirit of generosity, an offering simply isn’t generous, no matter what the amount.
