February

February brings a lot to the table.

It’s the second month of the year, so all of those half-baked New Year’s resolutions usually fizzle out by now.

It’s still cold and dark in my part of the world, and can often feel like an in-the-meantime month.

It’s also the shortest month of the year, but they pack a lot into it.

It has that holiday to celebrate love, and also the one that celebrates Presidents. In other words, reasons for retail to hold sales.

There’s also a funky tradition involving a groundhog and his shadow, this year he decided we’ll get six more weeks of winter. They also tack on an extra day every four years, calling it a “leap year.”

In addition to all of this, it is Black History Month, where attention is focused on the contributions of African Americans to the U.S..

So, February may be the shortest month, but it sure brings the party.
