The things we want more and more of are only appealing as long as they are still an option.
You may wish you could stay in bed forever, but ask a bedridden invalid how they feel about never getting up.
You may want unlimited ice cream sundaes, but if that suddenly became the only food substance available, eventually they would look (and taste) like poison.
You may be dealing with a loud neighbor, or rowdy screaming kids, and absolutely beg for pure silence, but I’m sure for someone suffering permanent hearing loss, they’d give anything to hear those sounds again.
The point is to enjoy the treasures of life the very moment you receive them, for they are not guaranteed to ever come your way again. And in being so fleeting, that just might be the biggest blessing they can provide.
