“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
The prayer is simple, beautiful, and brings me such peace to recite it. I believe it’s used in most all 12-step programs. I am not a member of any such program, but I am aware of the prayer just the same.
It’s a prayer for every one, with whatever they may face. It’s concise elegance makes it easy to remember as it calls for serenity, which is the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.
What a great way to lift this world, if all of us were to ask for the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
