I used to work with a woman who loved to vent. And she had something to gripe about daily, even hourly. Oh, but she was generous about it. She would encourage others to vent too. In fact, that was her way of bonding.
But the venting never solved anything. In fact, all it ever did was spew this thick, negative energy all around her and the whole office. Like a virus. Being spread and strengthened with each self-pitying grievance. It’s no wonder her life was crap, work sucked, and she had an endless list of things to vent about.
No, do not vent. Don’t sit around and complain to each other. If you see someone spewing that toxic mess, don’t breathe it in, don’t add to it, and make sure you wash your hands thoroughly and often.
