In order to have a civilized society, we all need to act civil towards each other.

There’s a reason most all of the monarchs and dictators are gone. Yes, because they suck, but also because we all want to be treated with respect and not forced into fealty towards some blustering moronic demagogue.

It not only creates suspicious, agitated sycophants, but it is the furthest thing from being civilized.
